I would highly recommend Academy of Safe Motorcycling. Rob Booth runs a professional school whose training surpasses the requirements of both the Module 1 and Module 2 tests. I had a great time with Rob, Chris and Tim both on and off the bike. The Kawasaki ER5 500c bike that ASM use is an ideal bike to train on and introduces you nicely to the big bike world. The Academy of Safe Motorcycling is definitely the BEST place to go to learn to ride!! I was transformed from a complete novice rider to passing my Mod 2 first time! Rob and Chris are great teachers – they ensure that you not only understand the machine you are riding, but that you become a safe and really good rider. I passed first time with ASM. I highly recommend you to train with them as they are fantastic. A huge thank you to Chris for his unique style of training and the confidence he inspired in me. Both myself and my wife had a superb time learning together during our DAS courses and lots of laughs along the way! A truly unique experience and very enjoyable. I must also say a big thank you to Tim for his help with the CBT, absolutely brilliant, and also to Rob on the final day of my DAS hours before my test, who's sound advice and tuition, along with words of encouragement helped me no end on the day. If you don't train with this superb team of people for your licence after reading this then you must be mad!

A refreshing blend of professionalism on a bike and irreverence off. Mind numbing patience in the face of appalling odds. I'm an old dog and thanks to Rob and Chris I have learnt new tricks. Thanks to their diligence, technique, and training facilities, I managed first time passes in both module 1 and the practical examination (with a couple of minors - where the examiner was obviously at fault) after 25 years out of the saddle. If you just want to pass the test, look elsewhere. If you want to do it properly, look no further. Great training by great blokes (motorcyclists) delivered at my pace and in plain English (Brummie & Scouse) not only enabled me to pass my direct access course first time but to feel competent and safe as well. I've just passed my standard 125 cc bike test, both modules, first time with ASM and it's all thanks to an excellent CBT day with Chris and then on to test training with Rob who's methods helped me to build my confidence and riding skills. The excellent Module 1 training area was great and without which it would be almost impossible to pass. Not only did I learn a lot but I had a very enjoyable time. Passing ‘first time’ is a bloke thing. No one knows why it matters so much, but it does! Luckily, if you choose ASM and you put the effort in, then you can definitely tick this box. In the opening brief of the DAS course Rob declares, “Listen to what I say, ride like you mean it, and with the exception of doing something daft on the day, you will pass. He was absolutely right. Whilst training with ASM, I feel I have learnt how to ride safely and have been given the correct foundations with which to develop my riding career. I would highly recommend Academy of Safe Motorcycling for your training. The training is spot on, with encouragement through every aspect from training to test. Rob & Chris were both very patient with a more mature rider. At 56 years, it's never too late!

Many Thanks to Rob and Chris at ASM. These guys are amazing. I have just passed Module 1 and Module 2 first time, within 2 weeks of riding a 500cc bike for the first time. From initially having to do my CBT with Chris and then theory test, it was over to the hands of Rob for 3 days of training for DAS modules 1 and 2. Robs Module 1 practice setup was -just like the real test. I had 2 mock tests with him that morning so I was totally at ease on test. Rob and Chris' sense of humour kept me laughing, and Robs advice and instructions etched into my brain kept me focussed. Job well done. I strongly recommend ASM. I was recommended ASM by a friend. The training I received from Rob and Chris was 1st class and I enjoyed every minute of it! I did my module 1 training with them and then onto module 2 training. Their Module 1 off-road training course is exactly like the real thing, which not only enabled me to practice each manoeuvre and do a mock test, but also I knew exactly what to expect for the real test which helped my nerves. I went on to do module 2 training and found it extremely fun & relaxed and I learnt a lot. Due to of the excellent standard of training from Rob and Chris I passed both module 1 & 2 first time! I would like to say a big thanks to Rob and Chris for the excellent training I received from ASM. I took my CBT and went straight on to do my DAS. Due to the very high level of tuition I received I passed first time. The bikes and equipment supplied were of a very high standard and I can't fault any of it. The training was done in stages, building confidence along the way and only moving on when you are ready. It was all done at a nice pace with lots of banter and laughs thrown in to make it a highly enjoyable experience. If you’re unsure whether it’s right for you, just do it, you won’t regret it. I have Just passed my direct access first time and would like to say a big thank you to Chris and Rob for their professional and friendly instruction. I was trained to a very high standard, not just to pass the tests but to give me the extra skills needed for safe riding. Every aspect of my training was built up in stages to make sure I was OK before going out on the road, which helped to build my confidence and stopped me getting overwhelmed. The instruction through the earpiece while on the road was calm and clear and helped greatly. As Rob says "concentrate and listen to the instruction and you'll do well". I now plan to join them on one of their organised ride outs on my own bike to further develop my skills. I highly recommend and wish them all the best for the future. Nial Gordon |

I've just passed my direct access course at my first attempt. This is all down to the hard work of Rob and Chris at ASM. Both are very keen and experienced motorcyclists, excellent qualified instructors, as well as great personalities. Both Rob and Chris are very sharp on observations and hazard perception and I have even started doing lifesavers in the car! ASM have a high standard of bikes and equipment and access to an area big enough to set up a MOD1 test which you will need to practice to pass! After getting recommendations from friends I decided to take my CBT and Direct Access with ASM. In all aspects of my training from my CBT through to my Direct Access I found Rob and Chris provided me with a professional and friendly environment. Due to this I passed my Module 1 & Module 2 tests on my first attempt. I have no doubt in my mind that my success was due to the grade A instruction I received from ASM. Having taken my CBT regrettably with another school, it became apparent that I really needed extra training in order to feel safe. I did a little web searching and happened across Academy of Safe Motorcycling. I was impressed with what I read and the professionalism of the instructors. The quality of the tuition was second to none and the guys had me confident in no time. I passed my Module One first time, and a few days later passed Module Two first time also. I heartily recommend ASM I feel far more competent and confident with my riding than ever before and although I am still learning I have an excellent grounding in the necessary skills to stay alive. Did CBT and passed DAS module 1 and 2 with no minors with ASM. Chris and Rob were fantastic trainers and were very professional and encouraging which made the whole experience easier. CBT & DAS Mod 1 Mod 2 all now passed first time due to the excellent instruction from both Rob and Chris. These two guys are very professional in their approach to training, and have a great sense of humour which helps to keep everything relaxed and flowing. My ear is still hurting from the ear piece or ? from Rob's verbal instructions. Each time I put my helmet on I can hear Rob saying "mirrors, signal, lifesaver, manoeuvre!" Having been a pillion passenger for 36 years I felt it was time to take control of my life and ride my own motorbike. Thanks to Rob and Chris I have had the training, support and encouragement to achieve my goal. Thanks for leading me step by step through the Direct Access tests. Your training was excellent, as was the bike (Kawasaki 500). I was so pleased to passed both Module 1 and Module 2 1st time. I have ordered a 2010 CVO Fat Bob Harley Softail with Screaming Eagle 110" engine plus the stage 1 upgrade. Should be delivered end October. A few short weeks ago I had never ridden a motorcycle. Now, one CBT course and one DAS course later with Rob and Chris at ASM and I am a chuffed to bits holder of a full motorcycle licence! The quality and comprehensive nature of Chris and Robs training, the professionalism and passion of the guys, the knowledge and experience they imparted, the humour with which they delivered it, and last but not least the patience they must have called upon made both courses and absolute pleasure. Couple that to some terrific training facilities that enables them to cover all elements of the training, and you will understand why I couldn't recommend them, or ASM, more highly. Rob and Chris helped me through my CBT and DAS test training and I passed both parts first time. Great couple of guys who, while relaxed, are very thorough and will not let you go on to the next step until you are ready. I was not sure about letting a Scouser or Brummie near my bike so I had to keep checking my wheels (only kidding guys). I highly recommend this training school and have done so on many occasions. A 44-year old car driver and five days training later with Rob & Chris on a 125cc then 500cc, and I have passed my bike test first time. I found the first time out on the road to be pretty scarey (what no air-bag!) By the time I did my final test I genuinely felt that I could get myself safely from A to B. There is a safe way to ride, a mind-set, and these guys have the experience and knowledge that you need. The new test process may not be ideal but compared with the old "ride around the block" routine that was around 20 years ago it must produce better riders. Thanks to Rob & Chris for a job well done. Rob was thorough in making sure my riding and confidence levels were up to scratch. I found the course really good fun and thanks to Rob not only did I master the dreaded U-turn but aced it in my test! The consistent reassurance from both Rob & Chris accompanied with skillful training techniques enabled me to pass my STT first time. Well what can I say, without the fantastic training from Rob, I wouldn’t have passed my
test. He took me through the steps of learning to ride at my pace until I was completely

When I met Rob I had already tried a DAS course with another school and due to the bad experience I encountered there I hadn't been on a bike for over a year. Cheers Rob. I enjoyed my Standard Test Training with you and would recommend
you to anyone who wants motorcycle training. It improved my riding 10 fold and
prepared me for the test. Top notch teacher, brilliant bloke, fantastic fun. Best bit
was Robs pilot commentary coming back from the test and I passed first attempt. John Cotton (Right) I just took my Standard 125 test with ASM. My training was very thorough and geared towards safety. Rob is a professional and very capable instructor. Although the training was thorough I was still able to enjoy it as it was great fun to ride. I am now the proud owner of a motorcycle licence. I would just like to say that having been
trained by Rob at the Academy of Safe Motorcycling the whole experience was painless and
enlightening. The training was initially for my CBT which lasted one complete day. Then a
few weeks later the DAS (Direct Access) course - was very comprehensive plus three
complete days of road training, one on a 125cc and two on a 500cc prior to taking my test
on the 4th day after a bit of confidence building in the morning. I am a very nervous person
and found Rob's training to be very comprehensive and he put me at my ease enabling me to get my licence at my first attempt. I would have
no hesitation in recommending Rob and his Academy of Safe Motorcycling to anyone - I am

I have just completed my DAS course with The Academy of Safe Motorcycling. I had never
ridden a motorcycle before but Rob helped me to feel at ease and confident with my riding.
Booking on the course was easy and some extra lessons were arranged at a convenient

I did my CBT having never ridden a bike before and loved every moment of it. Four weeks later, I started my DAS training and passed my test three days after that. It’s a great course
which is taught very professionally and in a way which inspires confidence and above all it's

I did my CBT and DAS with ASM and learned a vast amount. There’s a lot to take in and
you really have to concentrate, but Rob went through everything with commendable
thoroughness and made it clear exactly what needed to be done. This chap must have
eyes in the back and at the sides of his head: whatever you’re doing, right or wrong, he
notices, and that’s the sort of perception, correction and encouragement you need from
an instructor, whether you’re preparing for a test or just to be safe and responsible on
the road. Rob also makes the training fun, and paces it so you don’t feel over-loaded. It was all worth it as I passed at my first attempt. If
more people who ride motorcycles were trained to ASM’s standards, our roads would be

I had been told that choosing the right company for motorcycle training can be a bit of
a minefield which makes me so glad I decided to go for ASM for both my CBT and
DAS. The instruction was absolutely top notch and after several days of fun filled,
exciting, and exhilarating training I have just passed my test first time. I was
constantly put at ease and never felt uncomfortable with any elements of my training
particularly the bits I struggled with! I cannot recommend Academy of Safe
Motorcycling enough having passed my test first time with only 3 minors. I found the whole
experience extremely valuable and enjoyable and now look forward to many years of

Firstly, thank you Rob. Not only are you a really nice bloke but an excellent instructor
too. I've recently taken my CBT leading to my Direct Access course with ASM, and
four days later, here I am with a full bike licence having passed first go. I cannot fault the tuition that I
received with the added bonus of some quality cups of tea at places I'd never found in
a million years. The thing I liked most about ASM was feeling more like a friend than a
number. Rob wanted me to pass just as much as I did. On this note I would have no

After looking for somewhere to take my DAS training, I chose ASM. I travelled back
from London to Bournemouth to complete my DAS for the sole reason that the tuition
for my CBT was brilliant. I went from never sitting on a bike to getting 3 minors on
my test in 4 days spent learning with Rob. If you're looking to pass your test first time, go to
ASM and it will happen. Not only will you learn to pass, you will learn to ride
effectively, defensively and above all safely with awareness of everything around you.
I would recommend ASM to anyone, regardless of where you're based. Thank you so

Having never ridden a bigger bike, I couldn't believe how quickly I picked everything up.
Rob had so much patience, especially when it came to teaching me U-turns! Now I love
going out on my Kawasaki GPZ500. It's a fantastic feeling - no "L" Plates, freedom, and
respect from other bikers. Even now when riding I here your words of advice and use
them daily. Thanks again Rob for all your help and support and for never giving up on
me. You train to a very high standard and I will be recommending ASM to everyone.

Before I started my training, Rob made me a promise.
“If you ride as I teach you, give me 100% on the bike and don’t do anything stupid on the
day, you will pass your bike test”. I passed first time. Rob’s instruction was excellent throughout my training and I was made
to feel more like a mate than a trainee. Rob was easy going but very professional in the way
he taught me to ride and I would recommend ASM to anyone who wants to get their bike
